Justice

Justice is a sign of God’s renewing presence. Over and over again we see in Scripture that God is on the side of the oppressed, the marginalized, and the vulnerable. To join God in God’s renewing work in our world, we desire to be a community that seeks justice by listening, learning, lamenting, advocating, and partnering with others in our city and around the world.

Because we believe that in Jesus, God-in-the-flesh showed up in our world, proclaimed good news to the poor, freedom for the captives, and the time of promises and hopes fulfilled.  May we live as agents of God's new creation: welcoming the stranger, caring for the vulnerable, loving the hurting and broken, proclaiming and demonstrating the Kingdom of God that has come and is yet to come.

Prayer of Lament:

The common thread of lament is to proclaim to God that something is wrong and broken in our lives and that we need him desperately. Prayers of lament are expressions of frustration, anger, or grief which arise out of suffering. They remind us of our human vulnerability and are prayers of faith and hope, not despair.
